- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 4 large eggs
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Red food coloring (optional)
- Fresh strawberries (for topping)
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- White chocolate (for drizzling)
- Additional whipped cream (for decoration)
Instructions
-
Make the Choux Pastry:
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium saucepan, bring water, butter, and salt to a boil over medium heat.
- Remove from heat and quickly add the flour. Stir until the mixture forms a ball and pulls away from the sides.
- Allow to cool slightly.
- Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add red food coloring to achieve desired hue.
- Spoon or pipe the dough onto the prepared baking sheet, forming small mounds.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until puffs are golden brown. Cool on a wire rack.
-
Prepare the Cream Filling:
- In a large bowl, whip heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
- Once puffs are cooled, slice in half and fill each with whipped cream.
-
Assemble the Dessert:
- Melt white chocolate and drizzle over cream puffs.
- Pipe additional whipped cream on top of the puffs and garnish each with a fresh strawberry.
Notes
- Make sure the pastry dough cools before adding eggs to prevent them from cooking.
- For extra flavor, you can add a dash of strawberry extract to the cream filling.
- Ensure the cream puffs are completely cooled before filling to prevent melting the cream.
