Ingredients
Scale
- 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm water (110°F/45°C)
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons fresh rosemary, chopped
- Sea salt, for sprinkling
Instructions
- Activate Yeast: In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Stir and let sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- Prepare Dough: In a large mixing bowl, mix the flour and salt. Create a well in the center. Pour in the activated yeast mixture and olive oil. Stir until a dough begins to form, then knead for about 8-10 minutes on a floured surface until smooth and elastic.
- First Rise: Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
- Shape Rolls: Punch down the dough to release air, then divide it into 12 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a roll and place on a greased baking sheet or in a muffin tray for even shapes.
- Second Rise: Cover the rolls with a damp cloth and let them rise again for about 30 minutes.
- Prepare Topping: Mix the melted butter, minced garlic, and half of the chopped rosemary in a small bowl.
- Bake Rolls: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush the rolls generously with the garlic-rosemary butter mixture. Sprinkle the remaining rosemary and a pinch of sea salt on top of the rolls.
- Cook: Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
- Final Touch: Remove from oven and brush with any remaining garlic butter for extra flavor.
Notes
- For extra flavor, consider adding a tablespoon of grated Parmesan cheese to the topping mixture.
- To ensure even rising, place the dough in an oven with just the light on, creating a warm environment.
- These rolls are perfect served warm with soup or salad. They can also be reheated in the oven wrapped in foil the next day.
