Description

A delicious combination of savory meatballs served over creamy mashed potatoes, topped with a rich sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 pounds potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for frying)
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon flour (for thickening sauce)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Meatballs: In a bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly combined. Form the mixture into 1-inch meatballs.
  2. Cook the Meatballs: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add meatballs to the skillet and cook until browned on all sides, about 7-10 minutes. Remove the meatballs and set aside.
  3. Make the Sauce: In the same skillet, add beef broth, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom. Stir in flour and whisk until smooth. Return meatballs to the skillet and simmer for an additional 10 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  4. Prepare the Mashed Potatoes: Boil diced potatoes in a large pot of salted water until tender, about 15-20 minutes. Drain and return to the pot. Add milk and butter, then mash until smooth and creamy. Season with salt to taste.
  5. Combine and Serve: Plate the mashed potatoes and top with meatballs and sauce. Garnish with chopped parsley.

Notes

  • For a creamier mashed potato, you can add more butter and milk.
  • Experiment with different herbs in the meatballs, like basil or oregano, for added flavor.
  • Ensure to not overcrowd the meatballs when frying to ensure even cooking and browning.
