Chicken with Ham and Swiss

Description

This delicious chicken recipe features tender chicken breasts, seasoned and seared, topped with ham and melted Swiss cheese.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 chicken breasts
  • to taste kosher salt
  • to taste black pepper
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp dijon mustard
  • 4 slices deli ham
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Pound chicken breast to flatten to 1/2″ or if large, slice horizontally.
  3. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
  4. Lightly dust each side with flour.
  5. In an oven proof skillet over medium high heat add the olive oil and butter.
  6. Quickly pan sear the chicken on both sides until lightly browned, about 1-2 minutes each side.
  7. Turn off heat and brush each piece of chicken with divided mustard.
  8. Top each piece of chicken with divided sliced ham and bake for 15 minutes.
  9. Remove from oven and top ham with Swiss cheese.
  10. Bake for another 5 minutes and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Note 1: Use skinless chicken breasts for best results.
  • Note 2: Choose a good quality deli ham.
  • Note 3: Swiss cheese can be replaced with provolone if preferred.
