Description

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon pure peppermint extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • Green food coloring (optional, for vibrant color)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the vanilla and peppermint extracts. Add a few drops of green food coloring if desired.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips. Cover and chill the dough for at least 30 minutes for easier handling and thicker cookies.
  6. Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake for 9-11 minutes, or until the edges are just set and lightly golden. The centers will look soft.
  8. Remove from oven and let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
