Description
Delicious golden crispy rice fritters made from jasmine rice, perfect as a snack or appetizer.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups cooked jasmine rice
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 1 egg, beaten
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Vegetable oil for frying
- Optional: chopped green onions for garnish
Instructions
- Prepare Rice Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked rice, flour, and cornstarch. Add the beaten egg, soy sauce, and sesame oil. Mix well. Season with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Stir until everything is combined and sticky.
- Shape Fritters: With slightly wet hands, form small balls or patties from the rice mixture. Place them on a tray lined with parchment paper.
- Heat Oil: In a deep pan or fryer, heat vegetable oil to about 350°F (175°C).
- Fry Fritters: Fry the rice balls in batches to avoid crowding the pan. Cook until they are golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- Serve: Place the fritters on a serving dish. Garnish with chopped green onions if desired.
Notes
- Rice Texture: Ensure the rice is slightly sticky before mixing. If it’s too dry, add a little water.
- Consistency: If the mixture is too loose, adjust by adding a bit more flour.
- Flavor Variations: Add chopped vegetables like carrots or bell peppers for extra flavor.
- Serving Suggestions: Serve with a dipping sauce, like sweet chili sauce or soy sauce, for added taste.
