Description

Deliciously soft and buttery sugar cookies that are perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • optional: granulated sugar for rolling or melted chocolate for dipping

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cream the butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Mix in vanilla extract and egg yolk until fully incorporated.
  4. Gradually add flour and salt, mixing just until a soft dough forms.
  5. Roll dough into a log, wrap in plastic wrap, and chill for 30 minutes.
  6. Slice dough into 1/4-inch thick rounds and place on prepared baking sheet.
  7. Sprinkle lightly with granulated sugar if desired.
  8. Bake for 12–15 minutes, until edges are just lightly golden.
  9. Cool completely before serving or dipping in chocolate.

Notes

  • For a chocolate-dipped version, use melted chocolate after the cookies have cooled.
  • These cookies can be stored in an airtight container for up to a week.
