Description
A delightful treat combining flaky puff pastry with creamy pastry cream and fresh blueberries, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
- 1 sheet puff pastry
- 1 cup fresh blueberries
- 1 cup pastry cream
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- 2 tablespoons icing sugar (for dusting)
- Fresh mint leaves (for garnish)
Instructions
-
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
-
Thaw the puff pastry sheet as per package instructions.
Roll it out on a floured surface until slightly thinner.
Use a round cookie cutter to cut out circles. You can make small or larger pastries depending on your preference.
For each pastry, cut out another circle to create a ring and place it on top of the full circle to form a raised edge.
-
Beat the egg in a small bowl.
Gently brush the top of the pastries with the egg wash to ensure a golden finish.
-
Arrange the pastry circles on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Bake for 15-20 minutes or until they are puffed and golden brown.
Remove them from the oven and let them cool completely.
-
Prepare 1 cup of your preferred pastry cream (store-bought or homemade).
-
Once cool, gently press down the center of each pastry to make room for the filling.
Spoon the pastry cream into the center of each pastry.
Top with a handful of fresh blueberries.
-
Dust the pastries with icing sugar.
Add a mint leaf on top for garnish.
Notes
- Ensure the puff pastry is well chilled when you work with it to keep it flaky.
- Use a sharp cookie cutter to cleanly cut the pastry to ensure even rising.
- Be creative with your garnishes, such as adding a drizzle of honey or a sprinkle of lemon zest for added flavor.
