Description

A delightful treat combining flaky puff pastry with creamy pastry cream and fresh blueberries, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet puff pastry
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries
  • 1 cup pastry cream
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • 2 tablespoons icing sugar (for dusting)
  • Fresh mint leaves (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

  2. Thaw the puff pastry sheet as per package instructions.

Roll it out on a floured surface until slightly thinner.

Use a round cookie cutter to cut out circles. You can make small or larger pastries depending on your preference.

For each pastry, cut out another circle to create a ring and place it on top of the full circle to form a raised edge.

  3. Beat the egg in a small bowl.

Gently brush the top of the pastries with the egg wash to ensure a golden finish.

  4. Arrange the pastry circles on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Bake for 15-20 minutes or until they are puffed and golden brown.

Remove them from the oven and let them cool completely.

  5. Prepare 1 cup of your preferred pastry cream (store-bought or homemade).

  6. Once cool, gently press down the center of each pastry to make room for the filling.

Spoon the pastry cream into the center of each pastry.

Top with a handful of fresh blueberries.

  7. Dust the pastries with icing sugar.

Add a mint leaf on top for garnish.

Notes

  • Ensure the puff pastry is well chilled when you work with it to keep it flaky.
  • Use a sharp cookie cutter to cleanly cut the pastry to ensure even rising.
  • Be creative with your garnishes, such as adding a drizzle of honey or a sprinkle of lemon zest for added flavor.
