Description

A delicious and comforting bowl of ramen featuring Trader Joe’s Beef Birria.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package Trader Joe’s Beef Birria (meat + consommé)
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 packs ramen noodles (seasoning packets discarded)
  • Fresh cilantro (chopped (for garnish))
  • Lime wedges
  • White onion (finely diced (for garnish))

Instructions

  1. Add the Trader Joe’s birria and chicken broth to a medium sized saucepan over medium-low heat. Bring to a simmer, stirring occasionally. Once the mixture comes to a simmer, mix in the lime juice just before removing from heat.
  2. Meanwhile, bring a medium saucepan of water to a rolling boil. Carefully lower the eggs into the boiling water and start a timer for 6½ minutes for soft-boiled eggs with jammy centers.
  3. After the eggs have cooked for 3 minutes, add the ramen noodles to the same pot and gently separate them with tongs or chopsticks. Continue cooking until the timer reaches 6½ minutes total and the noodles are tender.
  4. Use a slotted spoon to remove the eggs and transfer them to an ice bath to stop the cooking. Drain the noodles well and divide them between two serving bowls.
  5. Pour the birria mixture over the ramen noodles and garnish with cilantro, lime wedges, and diced white onion.

Notes

  • For a more intense flavor, let the birria simmer for a longer time.
  • Adjust the lime juice to taste.
