Description

This slow cooker BBQ chicken is tender, flavorful, and perfect for sandwiches or over rice.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 ½ cups barbecue sauce (your favorite brand or homemade)
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Chicken: Start by trimming any excess fat from your boneless, skinless chicken breasts. You can use frozen chicken if needed—just add extra cook time.
  2. Mix the BBQ Sauce: In a medium bowl, combine the barbecue sauce, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir until well blended. This sauce is the key to giving your chicken deep, rich flavor.
  3. Add to the Crockpot: Place the chicken breasts in the bottom of your slow cooker. Pour the sauce mixture evenly over the top, making sure each piece is well coated.
  4. Cook Low and Slow: Cover and cook on low for 6–7 hours or high for 3–4 hours, until the chicken is cooked through and tender enough to shred with a fork.
  5. Shred the Chicken: Once done, remove the chicken and shred it using two forks. Return the shredded chicken to the crockpot and stir it back into the sauce. Let it cook for an additional 15–20 minutes on low so it soaks up every bit of that tangy-sweet goodness.
  6. Serve and Enjoy: Spoon the pulled BBQ chicken onto toasted sandwich buns, slider rolls, or even over rice or baked potatoes. Don’t forget a side of coleslaw or pickles for crunch.

Notes

  • This recipe works great with frozen chicken, just make sure to add extra time.
  • Feel free to customize the BBQ sauce to your taste.
